JD Wetherspoon PLC (LON:JDW) said it is to re-open 394 pubs with outdoor space on 12 April, the earliest it can resume trading under the UK government’s roadmap to recovery.
Outlets with beer gardens, rooftop gardens and patios in England will be open from 9am to 9pm (Sunday to Thursday inclusive) and 9am to 10pm (Friday and Saturday) though some will face will specific local restrictions, said the FTSE 250 member. Food will also be served, but with a slightly reduced menu.
Orders and payment will be taken through the pub group’s app or at the table for those that don’t have the app on their phone.
Wetherspoon added it will not be taking bookings and said customers will go through the interior of a pub to get to the outdoor space if necessary.
Wetherspoon has 875 pubs in the UK, including 750 in England.
Tim Martin, chairman, said last month the pub industry was on its knees and needed to reopen quickly to save thousands of jobs.
Shares in Wetherspoon eased 2% to 1,292p.
